Chem-Dry R&D Team Keeps New Services Coming For Franchise Owners

A steady stream of innovation, from services to products and equipment, ensures every Chem-Dry franchise owner can meet client requests

Just a man and his van

When Chem-Dry first launched in the 1970s, its unique carbonating hot water extraction process was groundbreaking to the Home Services industry — and it still is. That service alone would be enough to build a strong franchise business on, but Chem-Dry has added much, much more to its lineup over the years.

“We have created a whole-home suite of services, all of which tie into our Healthy Home approach to cleaning,” explains Doug Smith, Senior Vice President of Franchise Development. “The goal has always been to provide exemplary service for customers, things they couldn’t get anywhere else. It’s why Chem-Dry has grown over time in the United States and around the world.”

New services create interest and demand

In just the last year alone, Chem-Dry cleaning franchise owners have been able to add air duct and dryer vent cleaning, as well as wood floor cleaning and VCT, or commercial floor, service. That’s on top of an area-rug cleaning program which was rolled out just a few months before and has proven very popular with franchise owners and clients alike.

“Our Chem-Dry R&D team pays a lot of attention to what consumers want, and so they can respond with the services that tie in well with Chem-Dry’s existing offerings,” Smith says. “The goal is to meet the demand for new services without overwhelming the franchise owners with a lot of new equipment and training.”

Adding service lines is easy and profitable

That’s accomplished by research and development that focuses on every aspect of service delivery: environmentally friendly products that are green certified; lighter, more durable equipment that’s easier for techs to move around and also more economical to operate; and service lines that drive interest and grow profits.

“At Chem-Dry, R&D is a lot more than creating new formulations for cleaning,” Smith says. “Our goal is to always be ahead of consumer demand so that when people call asking about something like granite renewal or leather cleaning, our franchise owners can respond with an affirmative answer, and then book that estimate appointment and land the business.”

Chem-Dry is the world’s largest carpet and upholstery cleaning franchise with more than 3,000 franchises in more than 55 countries, serving 11,000 homes and businesses a day. Chem-Dry has been Entrepreneur magazine’s top-rated carpet cleaning franchise for 31 straight years. The Chem-Dry Hot Carbonating Extraction process delivers a faster-drying, deeper and more environmentally friendly clean that appeals to home and business owners. In addition to carpet and area rugs, Chem-Dry provides cleaning and renewal services for tile and stone, granite countertops, leather and upholstery, air ducts and dryer vents.
